Macau Sees New Post-Covid Revenue High In August

During August, the gaming industry in Macau continued to grow in terms of accumulated profits, with gross gaming profits reaching MOP$17.21 billion, which is approximately US$2.12 billion, meaning it increased 3.3% on month-on-month, compared with July’s GGR result of MOP16.66 billion, which was so far the “best monthly performance” since January 2020 when GGR was MOP22.13 billion, the time when COVID-19 pandemic officially started.

On July 13, it was reported that the Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission voted unanimously to award the state’s only license to Phil Ruffin’s group to officially open the historic horse racing casino, called Golden Circle, at Wichita Greyhound Park, giving the Wichita-born-and-raised casino mogul a chance to open a casino directly where Wichita Greyhound Park once stood, which officially closed in 2007. There is some good news regarding the gambling market in Macau. As Wong Sio Chak, Secretary for Security in Macau revealed on Friday, gaming-related crime decreased significantly in 2022

Compared to the previous year, the decrease is 41.6%. In 2021, 635 cases related to the gaming industry were reported, while in 2022, that number was only 371.
